What beliefs may you holding that could be limiting how you see yourself and the world around you?

Posted by on December 12, 2024

Why do you suppose that may be the case?

Every day I go for a walk. Some days it’s harder than others especially if the weather is less appealing. But, without fail, I will come across at least one thing on my walk that makes me smile…and today it was these two.

I know some people will read this and say “really?!! how is this important?!!” but for me it reminds me that I have many choices, some of which may shape my day, my week or my life.

So when i get up in the morning and it’s raining and I think - Read More

What’s your inner child trying to tell you?

Posted by on October 24, 2024

Enjoying “Ice Cream for Breakfast” by Laura Jane Williams about rediscovering your inner child and this post really helps to show how we can nurture, nourish and where necessary heal our inner child so that we can thrive fully as adults.

Sometimes we learned lessons or developed beliefs as children which can get in the way of open learning and adapting. By tapping into the child parts of ourselves that are vulnerable and impressionable we can be both “the grown up” and the child providing unconditional self love, self-compassion and self-support.

As adults we can help our inner child untangle the feelings - Read More

Could counselling be right for me?

Posted by on August 8, 2024

I am so fortunate to work with so many gifted clients – not least that they have the awareness and courage to reach out from themselves to ask for support when facing life’s challenges.

It can come through the power of the spoken word, music, writing, poetry, sport, movement, hobbies and interests, travel and so much more. We don’t just talk in our work together, we connect so that we can make sense of the challenges together and explore new perspectives, new thoughts, curiosity and - Read More

Can you take a compliment?

Posted by on July 2, 2024

On my walk this morning I passed a beautiful cottage garden in which a gentleman was busy tending to. I stopped to tell him how much I admired his garden and he thanked me and then immediately pointed out the weeds, overgrown areas and how he should be doing more. We chatted some more before I continued on my walk.

What made me feel sad was how his face had lit up with genuine thanks when I spoke to him but how quickly he focused on what he felt was negatives of his beautiful garden. It made me think how often - Read More

Control – what does this mean?

Posted by on June 13, 2024

Much of our lives are actually not in our control and yet we can find ourselves focusing and ruminating on the words and actions of others and in turn then our responses. Stepping back and looking at what we can realistically take ownership of in ourselves and that which we have very limited or non-existent influence over can create space to fulfil our potential selves and better serve ourselves and the relationships we enter into with ourselves and others.

Why do we keep doing the same thing?

Posted by on June 13, 2024

The desire to re-visit and put right, alter or make amends often results in us making the same decisions resulting in the same outcomes. Many of our re-visited patterns are done so unconsciously in an attempt to unconsciously recreate an unresolved part of ourselves in the present day in order to heal it. Armed with only our own way of doing this inevitably results in the same outcomes and so the pattern of re-visit will emerge in different guises attempting to be seen by ourselves and re-worked. Counselling can help challenge those patterns and crucially by curious around why the - Read More
